One of the very few positives of this global pandemic is that I have plenty of time to kill, which means that I have plenty of time for things like this blog…which is not something I’ve been able to say for awhile. I am going to jump back into the saddle with a look at the Season 50 ballots for end-of-season awards. If/when I have the time, my next few projects are going to be moving the blog from WordPress to Google Sites and updating Career WAR totals. That’s no knock on WordPress, but I have most of my other information on the Google platform so it makes sense to consolidate a little…as for the career WAR topic: I’ve figured out a quick and dirty method for calculating career WAR for retired hitters, so it has become much easier to figure out the career leaders.
Short term, however, I will use the Wins Above Replacement metric to evaluate the task at hand-end of year voting. Here’s how each of the ballots break down:
